Begin your exploration at the Château d'Ancenis, a former medieval fortress converted into a Renaissance residence overlooking the Loire. For a more poetic outing, head to Liré, the birthplace of the poet Joachim du Bellay, where his museum traces the life of the famous author of ‘Heureux qui, comme Ulysse...’ (Happy are those who, like Ulysses...).
